Abstract
Two field experiments were conducted to study the effect or three transplanting dates. i.e .. 1'1 October, 1"1 November and 1" December In the 1997- 1998 season, and 111 September, 1J! October and 1"1 November in the 1998-1999 season, On vegetative growth and head quality and yield of three broccoli cultivars; namely, F,0175. Landmark and Sprouting Broccoli Create, under the condttlons ot Ka\youbeyia governorate. The results reveal that early planting Increased nU~ber and weight or leaves per plant, stern diameter, average weight and diameler of the main head as well as head contents of ascorbic acid. The early transplanting prole ged the harvesting period, which led to an increase in the total yield of main and Side heads. On Ihe contrary, late transplantin9 on 1"! November or 111 December Increased the head contents or dry matter, total carbohydrates, total protein. nitrogen, potasslurn and phosphorus. The broccoli cultivars performed differently concerning Ihe different physical and cnemlcat characters under study.
