Abstract
Field experiments were carried out in two successive seasons during the winter seasons of 2014/2015 and 2015/2016 under high polyethylene tunnels in a private farm located in Belqas District, Dakahlia Governorate, Egypt. The aim of this study is to improve the fruit yield and quality of the grafted cucumber (Cucumis sativus .L) c.v Nabeela plants. The experiment included 16 treatments resulted from combination of  four rootstocks (i.e, Jumbo , Star, Felxi and Non-grafted ) were arranged in main plots and four  foliar applications (i.e., salicylic acid at  200 mgL-1 , silicon at  100 mgL-1 ,  yeast at 10  gL-1and  Tap water as a control ( were arranged in sub plots The treatments were arranged in a randomized complete blocks design with three replicates. The results of the present study showed   significant effects of rootstocks and different foliar applications on growth parameters and chemical characters of cucumber leaves and fruits.  The results indicated that grafting on the different rootstocks and foliar applications treatments exerted significant effects on many growth aspects (i.e, survival rate, stem length, number of laterals branches, leaves area, fresh and dry weights of plants), fruit yield (total yield and early yield) and chemical characters of leaves and fruits the most effective treatment was obtained with grafting on Jumbo rootstock and spraying with yeast extract at 10 g/L in both seasons of study. Since, it recorded the highest values of vegetative growth parameters, total and early yield with high nutritional value (i.e, N P K, TSS and Vitamin C)     compared with other treatments during the two seasons.
