Abstract

This wor!< was carried out in Biotechnology Division, the Central Laboratory for
Date Palm Research and Development Shoot-tip excised from 10 - 15 em was detached
from adult date palm (Phoenix dactylifera L.) 'Sew( cv. and cultured on Murashige and
Skoog medium supplemented with 100 mgIl Naphthalene aoetic acid (NAA) and 3 mgIL
Isopentenyladenin (2ip). Pollen grains of Sewy cv were used as natural organic material in
the different concentrations (0.01, 0.05, 0.1, 0.25, 0.50 and 1.0 gil) were evaluated at
different stages. Data indicated that Wturing of shoot-tips on Murashige and Skoog
medium supplemented with 0.25 gil pollen grains induced the best growth parameters.
However, lower pollen grains concentrations (0.05 gil) enhanced the number of plantlets
and plantlets length and rooting.
