Abstract
Three field expriments were carried out at Ismailia Agricultural Research
Station. during 2003. 2004 and 2005 summer seasons to study genetic parameter i-e.
phenotypic. genotypic coefficient of variability, heritability and simple correlation
coefficients for some yield components for twenty genotypes of peanut.
Significant differences were detected for genotypes either through three
seasons and combined analysis for all characters studied. except number of
branchesiplant. The results showed that Introduced (1) recorded the highest pod
yieldffed, seed yield! fed and seed weightiplant. plant height and number of
podsiplant.. Introduced No.(5) gave the heighest seed yieldiplant. IUD—seed weight,
shelling percentage. pod yieldifed. number of brancheslplant. number of podsl’plant
and pod weighfiplant.
Genotype No. (16) gave the highest values for seed welghtiplant. pod
yieldiplant, plant height. number of podsiplant and pod yieldiplantAlso Introduced
No.(19). was the highest in seed weightiplant, 100— pod weight. too-seed weight,
shelling percentage and number of branchesiplant.
phenotypic. genotypic and environmental variances were observed for 100-pod
weight during the three summer seasons. whereas the lowest values were estimated
for number of branchesiplant.
Estimates of phenotypic (PCV). genotypic (60V) and environmental (ECV)
coefficients of variability for all studied characters varied from season to season and
from character to another. The highest values of phenotypic. genotypic and
environmental were recorded for number of podslplant. pod yieldffed and seed
yieldlfed, while the lowest values were obtained for IOU-seed weight and shelling
percentage during the three successive seasons.
High values of heritability (> 50%) were recorded for seed weightfplant and
100-pod weight during 2004 and 2005 seasons. Whereas low to moderate values of
heritability were obtained in the remaining characters.
Simple correlation coefficients (r) between seed yieldffed and its components
revealed positively and significantly correlation coefficient (r) between seed yieldffed
and each of. number of podsiplant. IOU—seed weight, shelling % and seed
weightiplant.
These obtained results are of great interest for peanut breeder when planning
effective and correct breeding program to improve seed yield
