Abstract
Two field experiments were conducted at Malawi Experimental Station
'[Mittldle Egypt; during 290212003 and 20630904 seasons to study the effect of
irnercropping sugar beet with onion . talaa been or wheat on yield and yield
components of sugar bwt . The experimental design was randomized complete
hm design with three replirzations . The important resists could be summarized as
follows:
1. Yield of sugar beet was signifiwttly reduced by interoopping and the reduction

yield components under bed system (12!) cm) were higher than that grown on

ridges (60 c.

fad were significantly reduced by intemopping and the reduction was in
highest value when intercropped with wheat comparing writh pure stand in both
seasons.
3. :Intercropping onion with sugar beet on bed system gave higher yield than on
ridges. Bulb weight under rm systemwas heavier than under pure stand.
